The short version
- No account, no sign-up and no server. We never receive your customers, your rates, your time or your location.
- The app has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party SDKs. (These web pages count visits without cookies; see section 13.)
- Your data is stored on your iPhone, and your Apple Watch keeps a copy of what it needs for today.
- Places is optional. Timla itself never sends your location anywhere; the map and address search you use to set up a place come from Apple Maps, which receives the map area and your search.
- Exports, invoice bases and copied time reports go wherever you choose to send them.
- Delete the app and everything Timla stores on your iPhone and Apple Watch is gone.
1. Who we are
Timla (“the app”) is published by Lodehed Labs AB (Jesper Lodehed), based in Sweden. You can reach us at jesper@lodehed.se.
This policy covers the Timla app for iPhone and Apple Watch, including its widgets, Live Activity, Control Center controls and watch complications, and these web pages. It does not cover Apple’s own services (the App Store, iOS and watchOS, Apple Maps, Siri, iCloud), which are governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
2. What we do not collect
Timla has no user accounts and no servers, and the app contains no code that sends data to us. In particular, Timla does not:
- ask you to create an account or give us your name, email address or phone number;
- include any analytics, telemetry, advertising or crash-reporting SDK, or any third-party code at all;
- use the advertising identifier, fingerprinting or any other way to track you across apps and websites;
- send your customers, projects, rates, time, notes or locations to us or to anyone else.
3. Where your data goes
The whole picture in one table. The sections below explain each row.
| To | What | When |
|---|---|---|
| Your iPhone | Everything you enter in Timla: customers, projects, rates, time blocks and notes, places and settings. | Always. This is where Timla keeps your data. |
| Your Apple Watch | Your active customers and projects with their rates, what is running, and today’s blocks including notes. | Only if you install the Timla watch app. |
| Smart Stack & CarPlay | The Live Activity: customer and project names and today’s time. | While a day is running, if iOS shows Live Activities there. |
| Apple Maps | The map area on screen, and the text you search for together with that area. | Only while you add or edit a place. |
| Siri & Shortcuts | Your customers’ names, so “Start [customer] in Timla” can be recognised, and the requests you make. | Names are registered with iOS on your device; requests only when you use Siri or Shortcuts. |
| Wherever you choose | An exported backup file, an invoice basis, or a time report you copy. | Only when you export, share or copy. |
| Your device backups | All of Timla’s data, as part of your iPhone backup. | When your iPhone backs up to iCloud or a computer. |
| Lodehed Labs AB | Nothing. | Never. We have no server for it to go to. |
4. What Timla stores on your iPhone
Everything you create in Timla is stored in a database on your iPhone:
- Customers and projects: names, hourly rates, currency, VAT, invoice period, rounding, daily goal, project colours, project codes and project rates.
- Your time: time blocks with their start and end, the project (or lunch), the rate at the time, how the block was started (app, watch, Live Activity or edited by hand) and any note you add.
- A change log: the starts, switches and edits behind your blocks, plus a copy of your customers and projects (names, rates and settings, archived ones included) from each time you change them. Timla uses it to keep the iPhone and Apple Watch in step and to put late commands in the right order. Because it records edits, it also holds earlier versions of blocks you have changed or deleted, notes included. Entries older than 90 days are removed the next time Timla starts.
- Places, if you use them: each place’s name, centre coordinates, radius, start window and stop time, and the customer and project it starts, plus the last time you arrived at or left it.
- Settings: your daily goal, the long-day reminder, and small flags such as whether you have answered the notification question.
The database lives in a container on your iPhone that Timla shares with its widget extension (an iOS “app group”). The widgets, Live Activity and Control Center controls never open the database. They read a small summary file next to it: what is running, today’s time, the customer and project names, and the current rate. Your data is protected by iOS data protection and your device passcode.
5. Your Apple Watch
If you install the Timla watch app, your iPhone sends it what it needs to show and run your day: your active customers and projects with their rates, what is running, and today’s blocks (plus, at most, one recent earlier block), including their notes. When you tap start, switch, lunch or stop on the watch, the watch sends that command back to the iPhone. This happens over Apple’s own connection between your paired iPhone and Apple Watch; it does not pass through us. Timla never sends your saved places to the watch, although iOS may show a Places notification there (see below).
6. Lock Screen, widgets and notifications
The Live Activity, the Dynamic Island, widgets and complications show customer and project names and times; the Timla watch app also shows amounts for customers with a rate. Notifications show customer, project and place names and clock times. All of these are visible to anyone who can see your screen. iOS can also show the Live Activity in your Apple Watch’s Smart Stack and, in cars that support it, on CarPlay, and it mirrors notifications to your watch. You can turn any of this off or hide it in iOS and watchOS Settings.
The Live Activity is started and updated on your iPhone; Timla uses no push service. All notifications are local: the long-day reminder that asks whether you forgot to stop (on by default; change or turn it off in Timla’s settings), and the messages Places shows when it starts, stops or suggests switching your time. iOS asks for your permission before Timla can show any, and they stay in Notification Center until you clear them.
7. Places and your location (optional)
Places can start your time when you arrive at a place you have saved, and stop the day when you leave it. It is off until you save a place. Timla asks for location access when you save your first place, or earlier if you tap “Use my location” while adding one. To work while Timla is closed it needs “Always” access with precise location.
- Only the places you save. Timla gives the place’s centre and radius to iOS, and iOS tells Timla when you arrive or leave. Timla does not follow your position or keep a location history; for each place it keeps only the last time you arrived or left.
- Setting up a place. If Timla already has location access, the map opens at the last position iOS knows for your phone, and “Use my location” reads your current position once. Neither is stored unless you save a place there.
- Apple Maps. While you add or edit a place, the map is loaded from Apple Maps for the area on screen, and if you search for an address, the text you type and the area on screen are sent to Apple to find matches. This is handled by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy.
- Never to us. Apart from the Apple Maps requests above, which Apple handles, Timla never sends your location or your places to us or to anyone else.
You can delete a place, pause it, or turn off location access for Timla in iOS Settings at any time. Your places then stay saved but start and stop nothing.
8. Siri, Shortcuts and Control Center
Timla’s actions (start the day, start a customer, switch project, lunch, stop) are available to Siri, the Shortcuts app, Control Center and the Action button. So that iOS can recognise a phrase like “Start [customer] in Timla”, Timla registers your customers’ names with iOS on your device. When you use Siri, Apple processes your request according to your Siri settings and Apple’s Privacy Policy.
9. Exports, sharing and the clipboard
- Export data creates one file with your customers (archived ones too), projects, blocks with notes, the change log (with its earlier versions of edited and deleted blocks) and your places with their coordinates. Settings are not included.
- Invoice basis creates a text and a CSV file with hours, rates, amounts and VAT for a customer. The customer’s name appears in the file names and in the text version; notes are not included.
- Copy for timesheet puts a plain-text time report (dates, projects or project codes, and hours) on the clipboard. If you use Universal Clipboard, iOS can make it available on your other Apple devices.
- Import data reads a file you pick and, after you confirm, replaces your customers, projects, time and change log with its contents, and your places too if the file has any. Your settings are kept.
Where an exported or shared file goes (Files, Mail, AirDrop, another app) is your choice in the iOS share sheet. Once it has left Timla, it is governed by the privacy terms of wherever you sent it.
10. Device backups
Timla does not exclude its data from iOS backups. If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, Timla’s data is included, which is what lets you restore it on a new phone. Those backups are handled by Apple, or by you on your computer, not by us.
11. Diagnostics and statistics from Apple
Like most apps, Timla writes technical messages to your device’s own system log, for example about syncing with the watch; some of them include the name of the project that is running. They stay on your device unless you choose to share a diagnostic report. If you have turned on sharing with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple may give us crash reports and usage statistics that do not identify you. Apple also gives every developer aggregated App Store statistics, such as the number of downloads per country. All of this comes from Apple, not from the app, and is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
12. If you email us
If you contact us at jesper@lodehed.se, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write, which our email provider stores for us. We use it only to answer you, on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing support, and delete it when it is no longer needed for that.
13. These web pages
The Timla pages on lodehed.se are hosted on Google Cloud Run in the EU (Finland). Like any web server, it logs each request: your IP address, the page, the time, the referring page and your browser’s user agent. We use these logs only to run and secure the site; they are kept for a limited period (Google Cloud’s default is 30 days).
We count visits, and clicks on the App Store button, with PostHog (EU Cloud, Frankfurt) in cookieless mode: no cookies, no local storage and no profile that follows you from day to day. PostHog receives your IP address and browser details to produce these anonymous counts. The pages also load their fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when your browser fetches them. We base this processing on our legitimate interest in running the site and understanding which pages are useful, and you can object to it at any time (see section 16).
14. Sharing and third parties
We do not sell, rent or share personal data, because the app gives us none to share. The only other party involved in running the Timla app is Apple (iOS and watchOS, including the keyboard, dictation and other system services you use to type, Apple Maps, Siri and iCloud Backup), and only in the ways described above and under your Apple settings. For these web pages and for email we use the hosting, analytics and email providers described in sections 12 and 13.
15. Keeping and deleting your data
- Inside the app: you can delete time blocks and places. Customers and projects are archived rather than deleted, so their history stays correct.
- The change log removes its entries after 90 days, so a deleted block, an earlier version of a note, or a customer’s old name or rate can remain in the log, and in any export you make, until then. One snapshot of your customer list from before that point is kept until a newer one replaces it.
- Everything: delete Timla from your iPhone and from your Apple Watch. That removes its database, settings, notifications and saved places from your devices. Export first if you want to keep a copy.
- Copies elsewhere: files you exported or shared, and older device backups, remain until you delete them.
We hold no copy of your data, so there is nothing for us to keep or delete on our side.
16. Your rights
If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another region with data-protection laws such as the GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, export and erase your personal data, to have its processing restricted, and to object to processing we base on our legitimate interest (support email and the statistics for these web pages).
For the data in the app, you do this yourself: everything is visible and editable in Timla, and Export data gives you a copy. You can delete blocks and places in the app; to erase everything, including archived customers and projects, delete the app (see section 15). For anything else, or if you believe we hold personal data about you, write to jesper@lodehed.se and we will help. You can also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority; in Sweden that is the Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY).
17. Children
Timla is a work tool and is not directed at children under 13. The app collects no personal data from anyone, of any age.
18. Security
Keeping your data on your iPhone and Apple Watch means it is protected by iOS and watchOS data protection and by your device passcode, Face ID or Touch ID. We deliberately hold no copy on our own infrastructure, so there is no central store to breach.
19. Changes to this policy
If we change how Timla handles data, we will update this page and the “last updated” date at the top. Material changes will also be described in the app’s release notes.
